Coach
I have always been passionate about teaching and coaching. I receive a huge personal reward from helping people meet and surpass their athletic goals while maintaining balance in life.
I have been coaching team sports for the past six years. Currently I am in the final year of a degree in Physical Education from the University of Victoria. With my endurance racing background, many athletes have benefitted from the combination of my educational background and athletic experiences.
Endurance sports provide a fantastic challenge and a continuous learning experience for both the coach and athlete, which is why I love coaching people through their race season.
In addition to my education at UVic, I have triathlon specific coaching certification from Triathlon Canada to NCCP level 2 through. I am in the process of becoming certified as Level 3.
Athlete
As a former downhill skier, I have been involved in competitive sport since the early age of six. I dedicated my childhood to the of pursuit of excellence, until I was 17 years old. At the end of my ski career I took a few years off from competition and focused on gaining experience through traveling and working with youth. After returning to university, I rediscovered competition through road cycling. So began my introduction to endurance sports!
Cycling quickly lead to a love of all endurance sports, which progressed naturally into multisport racing—triathlon). I discovered that my passion was for ultra-endurance sports and I felt right at home in long course racing, such as the full- and half-iron distance races.
Whether as a skier or a triathlete, I have taken pride in my racing and in supporting my community as a whole. My focus has always been on racing to the best of my ability while practicing fair play and sportsmanship. I believe that athletes should serve as an example of the best qualities in a society, so I live my life towards that ideal.

Life
As an athlete, SCUBA Instructor, camp leader, and coach, I have been surrounded by sport and activity for my entire life. I believe that physical fitness and activity are critical components of a happy, long life. I extended this belief to pursuing a degree in physical education and working to support physical activity in my community.
On March 31, 2008, I launched a cross-Canada cycling tour from Victoria, BC. The Get Smart Get Active Tour promoted physical activity for Canadian children. Along the way I spoke with thousands of school children, community groups, and policy makers about the need for quality physical education programs for all Canadian children and youth.
7000 kms later, through wind, rain and snow, (and a few blisters) I successfully completed my incredible journey! I arrived at Cape Spear, Newfoundland, the most eastern point in North America, on June 26, 2008.
